Page 2 of 6 Some NMSS members maintain that their party should get out of the government in order to keep its electoral support. How do you think: does this refer to MRF too? The NMSS processes are logically determined. Although both parties are liberal, during the 2005 Parliament election campaign they showed a different readiness to form a coalition. Then the NMSS were categorical that they would never get together with the BSP. This is the basis of today’s attitudes. The MRF has no such problems as our policy is the same – both in the pre-election campaign and in the government. I do not think the MRF should quit the government. On the contrary. The party has successfully implemented the first part of its tasks and must courageously face the new challenges. As the list’s leader – how do you assess the MRF election campaign and its results? A campaign for representatives at the European Parliament was held for the first time in Bulgaria. It differed significantly from other election campaigns – in motivation, in the essence of policies that had to be commented on, in the messages to people. The MRF considered these questions well before the campaign and worked hand – from town to town, and from village to village. We told our electorate: the MRF has passed a long and difficult road. The values we uphold as a liberal party have their worthy place in the EU; we have the experience and skills to work in the European Parliament and to take part in making the policy of the whole of Europe. This policy is of key importance for Bulgaria. I think the people understood us and voted for us. I am pleased with the results. We have already made detailed analyses and reached conclusions which will be beneficial for our future campaigns. Why hasn’t the MRF declared any donation received in the past year before the Court of Accounts? The MRF is funded through membership dues and donations. Last years we had no donations because they are usually given for specific purposes, e.g. election campaigns. Last year there were no elections for which the MRF had its own candidate. You know that the MRF did not have its own candidate for President. So, it is not surprising that no donations had been declared.
