Filiz Hyusmenova Made A Donation to the Partenii Pavlovich Library in Silistra |
Bulgarian MEP Filiz Hyusmenova made a donation to the Partenii Pavlovich library in Silistra. She donated 50 books which will be particularly valued by lovers of French poetry and French-speaking patrons. Ms. Hyusmenova’s donation was on the occasion of March 20, the Francophone Day. Patrons will be able to read the book “Le Voyage” by Charles Baudelaire in French and Bulgarian, and the book of poems by young Bulgarian writer Raina Ivanova. Hyusmenova, who is a Francophone herself, is working for implementing the ideas of this community and its underlying principles, including the coexistence of different cultures and using one and the same language that makes this coexistence possible. The year of intercultural dialogue – 2008 – declared as such by the European Commission once again underlines the importance of Francophony among others for combining different points of view and understanding other people. In this connection, MEP Hyusmenova made sure that 9th-grade students from three Silistra schools – the Yavorov Language School, the Gagarin School, and the Vaptsarov School – receive the European Diary publication. It will help them get better acquainted with our common space – the European Union.
