Where does the EU Cohesion Policy come from and where does it lead to?
Cohesion as a goal, approach and tool for a better standard of living
For every fiscal period, the European Union sets concrete priorities and envisages how, through what funds and instruments they will be implemented. Naturally, these priorities are subordinated to the major common goals defined in the EU Treaty, and it is important to coordinate European and national policies. In this way the European community is acting in a concerted way and it is clear what funds to use and how to use them so that they can contribute to the goals and priorities defined.

Quotas for Women in Managerial Positions |

We call on the Commission and the Member States to encourage balanced representation of women and men on the management boards of companies.
We welcome the example Norway set by passing a law that provides for a 40% quota for women on the management boards of the joint-stock companies.

Filiz Hyusmenova Continues with the Entrepreneurship Trainings |

On December 1, 2007, at 10 a.m. an Entrepreneurship Training Seminar will start in Stara Zagora. It is part of the second stage of the project “A Chance for Everyone,” which comprises a total of four seminars aimed at training young people. The project started as a pilot initiative in Silistra region, where twenty five trainings were organized. The tangible benefit for the participants lead to expanding the project to other regions in the country.

As of December 13, 2007, the Euro will be Spelled Evro in Cyrillic |

Filiz Hyusmenova regarding whether it would be appropriate that the Euro be spelled ‘Evro’ in Bulgarian language, since this is provided for in the Agreement on the Accession of Bulgaria to the European Union and whether it is acceptable that the European Central Bank requires from Bulgaria to transliterate the Euro in Bulgarian as ‘Euro’, whereas the European Union works towards encouraging the multiple languages through all its policies.

Victoria Pavlova, a 15-year old student from Varna Commercial High School met in Strasbourg with Bulgarian MEPs Filiz Hyusmenova, Metin Kazak and Prof. Vladko Panayotov. The girl, who has been treated for diabetes for four years now, discussed with them the joint opening of an information campaign on diabetes among young people in 2008.

The Name of the European Monetary Unit – Euro |

The MEP Filiz Hyusmenova raised several questions before the European Commission regarding the transliteration in Bulgarian language of the name of the European currency “Euro.” She symbolically deposited her questions to the European Parliament on the date Europe celebrates as the Day of Language Diversity, since this day is intended to not only encourage studying of foreign languages but also to support recognizing the significance of every language in the EU.
